Renowned hotel brand and management company Dream Hotel Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Randy Taormina to Area Managing Director, Dream Hotels, in New York City, effective immediately. In this new role, Taormina will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Dream Downtown and executive oversight of Dream Midtown properties in Manhattan. Taormina arrived at Dream Hotel Group as General Manager of Dream Midtown last year. Joining from Highgate Hotels, where he most recently served as Area Managing Director in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area, Taormina brings nearly 20 years of experience to the growing Dream team. In his last six years with Highgate, he held the roles of General Manager at the Refinery Hotel in New York City for more than three years and General Manager of Doubletree by Hilton Syracuse for the two years prior.
Under his leadership, the Refinery Hotel was named a TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice award-winner in its opening year with a 94 percent approval rating, one of only three NYC hotels to make the list. Prior to Highgate, Taormina spent eight years with Lodgian Inc. as a General Manager at properties in Da llas, Phoenix, Denver and Pittsburgh under hotel brands Marriott, Hilton and IHG. At age 24, he became the youngest General Manager within Lodgian’s 90-hotel portfolio and operated some of its highest revenue-generating properties. He also served as General Manager of the landmark Silversmith Hotel, part of Crestline Hotels & Resorts, in Chicago. Taormina launched his hospitality career as Food & Beverage Director at a private resort on Hilton Head, South Carolina, and went on to become Assistant General Manager at resorts across the island.
