Michael Pye has been appointed General Manager at Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea - HI, USA
Michael Pye has been hired as Hawaii general manager for Fairmont Hotels and as general manager of the Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea, according to Wayne Buckingham, senior vice president of Accor Hotels.
In his new job at the Kea Lani, Pye will oversee the 450-room, all-suite and villa luxury resort and, as area manager, he will lead operations at the 540-room Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island's Kohala Coast.
Pye has more than 20 years of experience in resort management, joining the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in 1996 followed by a series of jobs with Fairmont hotels at multiple properties.
Those included the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, Fairmont Waterfront and Fairmont Southampton.
In 2010, he returned to Canada as general manager of the Fairmont Winnipeg and, in 2014, he was appointed to his most recent position as general manager of the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary, with majors in marketing and tourism hospitality management.
Pye is an avid scuba diver. He's married and has children.
