Christina Maffei

The Kahala Hotel & Resort is pleased to announce the appointment of Christina Maffei as the new director of food and beverage. With her impressive background in the industry, Maffei brings creative insight and a wealth of hospitality experience to The Kahala. In her new role, Maffei will lead the resort's food and beverage team property wide, committed to delivering exceptional culinary experiences for guests and locals alike.

A graduate of Mercyhurst College with a B.A. in Hotel, Restaurant & International Management, Maffei embarked on her career in hospitality at Hyatt Regency O'Hare as a manager in training, progressing to roles at Charlie Trotter's iconic Chicago restaurant and the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, before landing the position of director of food and beverage for the Trump Hotel Collection. Over five years with the company, Maffei contributed to the success of various Trump Hotel Collection locations, including the successful opening of their Honolulu property.

Enchanted by Hawaii, Maffei then assumed the role of director of restaurants and bars at Hilton Hawaiian Village, before moving on to join the Hale Koa Hotel as the director of food and beverage operations. In 2015, Maffei returned to her hometown of Pittsburgh, where she joined Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants as the regional director of operations for the Northeast. In this role, she supervised six properties spanning Pittsburgh, Boston, Vermont, and New York, before ultimately returning to Hawaii in 2019. In addition to her work in food and beverage operations, Maffei is a certified sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers, a member of the US Bartenders Guild, and a former member of the Chaine de Rotisseurs, Honolulu Chapter. Her grit has resulted in numerous awards ranging from two World's Best Mai Tai titles to being named one of the 'Top 10 Mixologists to Watch' by Beverage Media Magazine in 2013.

Maffei joins The Kahala after taking a several-year hiatus from hospitality to focus on growing her business FRANKLIN & myrrh, a company specializing in all-natural personal and home goods. Alongside her passion for all things food and beverage, Maffei loves to spend time with Franklin, her Boston terrier who was the inspiration behind FRANKLIN & myrrh.
