Chuck James has been elevated to the role of general manager, overseeing The Virginian Golf Club, Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards, and the 13-acre vineyard.
With a career spanning decades at Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards and its sister property, The Virginian Golf Club, Chuck James has been instrumental in the development and success of both entities. Beginning as an apprentice specializing in turfgrass management at The Virginian Golf Club, James worked his way up to become superintendent, playing a key role in infrastructure development and course management. His expertise extended to the Nicewonder property in 2012, where he oversaw its planning and development. The Nicewonder Vineyard project took off under James's guidance, and he had the privilege of leading it from start to finish. By 2016, the team proudly produced their first vintage, and later that year, their Viognier earned a gold medal at the Virginia Governor's Cup, setting the stage for many more accolades to follow. James began spearheading the creation of The Inn at Nicewonder in 2019, and culminated in the completion of Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards, including a winery for on-set wine production, nine luxury yurts, and an award-winning 28-room Inn. Today, James serves both as general manager of Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards and The Virginian Golf Club.
