McGinnis' passion for this industry stemmed from early roles in luxury spa operations, later evolving into a career defined by creating transformative guest experiences, including her recent tenure as Corporate Director of Spa for Omni Hotels & Resorts. With a proven track record of innovation, leadership, and operational excellence across award-winning spa properties, McGinnis is well-positioned to lead Joya Spa, home to Scottsdale's only Hammam treatment spa, in its next chapter while further enhancing the 31,000-square-foot sanctuary's status as a destination where ancient rituals and modern therapies create deeply restorative one-of-a-kind wellness journeys.
With more than 20 years of spa leadership and wellness experience spanning a variety of roles and disciplines, McGinnis' multi-faceted career includes leadership positions, such as Vice President of Consulting and New Business Development at Universal Companies, where she established a resort division that generated a new revenue stream and led consulting efforts for pre-opening initiatives. She later became a founding partner at Spa Development International Consulting, where she managed luxury spa projects from concept to completion, and served as Vice President of Operations at Innovative Spa Management, focusing on building profitable spa brands and delivering operational excellence.
In 2012, McGinnis joined Omni Hotels & Resorts as Spa Director at Omni Bedford Springs Resort & Spa in Pennsylvania, where she secured global recognition for service and facilities and achieved substantial year-over-year revenue growth, before advancing to Executive Spa Director at The Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa in Asheville, North Carolina. Most recently, she served as Corporate Director of Spa for Omni Hotels & Resorts, overseeing operations and managing projects from concept to completion, while inspiring teams across 27 award-winning spas to deliver transformative guest experiences. McGinnis was also the first spa professional to win the Omni Ideal Executive Award for Innovation in 2018.
Now, as Director of Spa at Omni Scottsdale's Joya Spa, McGinnis will oversee the resort's expansive Moroccan-inspired sanctuary, a renowned haven for unique wellness experiences thoughtfully conceived by Sylvia Sepielli, the visionary behind some of the world's most celebrated spas. Known for its signature Hammam experience, a rejuvenating hot and cold bathing ritual, the spa also features custom massages, facials, and body treatments, along with private suites, a relaxation room, and seasonal wellness programming. Guests can also dine on fresh, health-focused dishes at the Joya Terrace, arguably offering the region's best views of Camelback Mountain, to complement the overall wellness experience.
