Shangri-La Toronto is pleased to announce the appointment of Ashwin Mathur as General Manager, effective August 2025. With over two decades of luxury hospitality experience across Asia and North America, Mathur brings a wealth of expertise, a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences, and a proven track record of operational excellence.

Mathur has been with Shangri-La Toronto since 2021, serving most recently as Hotel Manager, where he oversaw operations in Rooms, Food & Beverage, Security, and Engineering, while leading initiatives in revenue optimization, marketing, and talent development. Under his leadership, the property maintained its Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star rating for three consecutive years and earned a Michelin Key in 2024.

A dynamic leader known for fostering innovation, Mathur has strengthened the hotel's positioning through unique partnerships with brands such as the Toronto International Film Festival, the National Ballet of Canada, and Cathay Pacific, to name a few. He played a key role in reimagining the hotel's food and beverage program post-pandemic, launching immersive room packages, and enhancing the property's reputation as one of Toronto's premier luxury destinations.

Mathur's career includes senior roles with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in Mumbai, Vietnam, Maldives, Dallas, and Toronto; as well as leadership positions at Dusit Thani Maldives and Starwood Hotels & Resorts. His extensive international experience spans pre-openings, brand conversions, and transformative operational leadership that consistently delivers strong guest satisfaction and financial results.
