St Julien Hotel & Spa has named Delaney Cicora as sustainability coordinator, where she will lead the property's in-house Green Team and advance its commitment to eco-conscious hospitality. The hotel also received a Gold level certification within the Colorado Green Business Network (CGBN), the only luxury hotel in the state to receive this recognition.
Cicora earned her degree in environmental sustainability from the University of Tennessee, with minors in geography and philosophy. She began her hospitality career as a front desk associate in Colorado before moving into sustainability leadership, driven by her goal of making luxury travel both environmentally responsible and rewarding for guests. At St Julien, she now oversees waste diversion, employee training, green events and initiatives to reduce waste and energy use.
The CGBN is a free and voluntary program that encourages, supports and rewards organizations that push toward true operational sustainability. The goal is to support businesses of all sectors and sizes thro ughout the state to increase energy, water and fuel efficiency, reduce waste and implement sector-specific sustainability best practices within business operations. The program's official rating system is divided up into three levels that rewards efforts in energy, water, waste and purchasing, transportation and policy. Gold recognizes organizations who excel at sustainable operations in their sector. They have implemented large scale changes to their organization in order to realize reductions and emphasize sustainability and equity throughout their organization.
St Julien has long been a leader in sustainable practices. In 2024, the hotel diverted more than 200,000 pounds of waste through recycling and composting, cut electricity use by 28% and natural gas use by 13% since 2009 and supported community events like Bike to Work Day and the Greenwood Wildlife Fundraiser. On site, the hotel also maintains a fruit, vegetable, and pollinator garden supplying Jill's Restaura nt, along with two honeybee colonies whose honey and beeswax are used in the restaurant and hotel gift shop. These initiatives reduce emissions while creating distinctive farm-to-table experiences for guests.
With Cicora's leadership and its new Gold-level certification, St Julien strengthens its place at the forefront of environmentally conscious hospitality.
