Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego has appointed David MacLean as director of sales and marketing amid a transformative property-wide renovation slated for completion in winter 2026. A longtime Hyatt leader, MacLean will oversee all sales and marketing initiatives, continuing to build on the hotel's strong partnerships with the San Diego Convention Center, Hyatt's Salesforce team, national corporate clients and third-party intermediaries.
With a proven track record in luxury resort repositioning and deep knowledge of global markets, MacLean is uniquely equipped to expand the hotel's reach during this critical phase, further solidifying Manchester Grand Hyatt's profile as one of California's premier meetings destinations.
MacLean joined Hyatt in 2012 and quickly rose through the ranks, leading high-performing sales teams at several major city and resort properties. As director of sales and marketing at Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, his team earned Hyatt's 2019 Sales and Revenue Team of the Year, recognized for exceptional performance in group and incentive markets. He later co-chaired Hyatt's Resort Alliance, representing 20 properties across North America, and collaborated closely with Hyatt Salesforce on strategic group initiatives and global account partnerships. Most recently, MacLean served as cluster director of commercial services for Grand Hyatt Bali, Hyatt Regency Bali and Andaz Bali, where he managed sales operations across the three properties.
MacLean now resides in San Diego, bringing him closer to family in the area. When not working, he embraces the Southern California lifestyle through running, golfing, and time out on the water, though he remains a devoted Boston sports fan.
