Lisa Marçais General Manager for Northern Europe and MEA at Airbnb, Inc. in San Francisco - CA, USA

Lisa Marçais

Airbnb announced today that Lisa Marçais has been appointed as the new General Manager for Northern Europe and MEA. Lisa will be responsible for overseeing the region including, UK, Ireland, the Nordics, and Middle East and Africa leading a strong team to grow the business and support Airbnb's community of Hosts and guest

Northern Europe is a significant region within Airbnb's global business, with Ireland home to Airbnb's international headquarters and the UK being one of the top countries for both domestic and international travel.

Lisa's arrival marks a pivotal time for the company as it consolidates growth in the UK to disperse tourism to lesser known destinations, with 50% of Airbnb listings in the UK located away from hotspots1. The company is supporting over 75,000 British jobs, generating almost £6bn to the British economy, and 40% of Airbnb hosts in the UK say hosting helps them afford to stay in their homes2. As Airbnb looks to the future of travel in the UK, the company is increasingly looking to support young travellers and students, recognising the role travel plays in connection, culture and community to this audience. As one of the most affordable ways to travel and discover unique places to stay, Airbnb is well positioned to support Gen Z and student travellers seeking shared, meaningful, real-life experiences, enabling group trips across the UK that go beyond traditional hotspots and bring people together around the moments, passions and communities that matter most to them.

This year, Airbnb also plans to strengthen its presence in the Middle East, with Lisa overseeing exciting expansion plans including new strategic hires, as this market continues to advance.

Prior to joining the Airbnb team, Lisa worked at eBay and ASOS and was responsible for scaling high-growth online businesses and leading large, diverse teams across Europe and international markets.

Most recently, Lisa led eBay's private seller business for the UK, reinventing the second-hand marketplace and unlocking supply growth. While at ASOS, Lisa was the Country Manager for Southern Europe helping launch new markets and drive transformational growth.

Lisa will be based in London and joined the company at the start of this year.
