Dream Downtown is pleased to announce the appointment of Munir Salem as General Manager, bringing more than 25 years of global hospitality expertise to the New York City property set between Chelsea and the Meatpacking District.
Over the past two and a half decades, Munir has built a reputation for leading high-performing teams across diverse markets, cultures, and hotel concepts around the world. Munir's journey with Hyatt began as a Corporate Management Trainee at Grand Hyatt Amman in Jordan while studying Finance and Banking. What started as a summer job quickly evolved into a lifelong international career fueled by curiosity, connection, and a deep passion for hospitality.
His career has taken him across the Middle East, Asia, and seven U.S. states, with leadership roles at some of Hyatt's most dynamic destinations. Munir has held positions at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines, Hyatt Regency St. Louis, Grand Hyatt San Francisco, Hyatt Regency Maui, Hyatt Regency Washington D.C., and Hyatt Regency Greenwich. Internationally, he played a key leadership role at Andaz Xiamen in China, further expanding his global perspective. Most recently, he served as Hotel Manager at Thompson Central Park New York, where he helped guide the property through a period of strong performance and brand momentum in one of the city's most competitive markets.
Now at the helm of Dream Downtown, Munir brings a wealth of operational expertise, a people-first leadership style, and a passion for creating memorable guest moments. His cross-cultural experience and deep understanding of Hyatt's lifestyle and luxury portfolio position him to lead Dream Downtown into its next chapter while honoring the property's reputation for creativity, energy, and community in downtown Manhattan.
Outside of the hotel, Munir is an adventurous foodie with an endless appetite for discovering new cuisines and experiences. He's always willing to try something new, a trait that mirrors his curiosity and enthusiasm for vibrant, dynamic environments like New York City.
